Dr. Kyle Nixon, Ph.D.

Dr. Kyle Nixon is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychological assessment and psychotherapy. He completed his Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology. He completed an APA-accredited internship in neuropsychology at the Mount Sinai Hospital. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Brain Wellness Institute and Crossroads Institute for Psychotherapy and Assessment.

Prior to starting Nixon Psychological Institute, Dr. Nixon served as the Assessment Supervisor at Crossroads Institute, supervising postdoctoral trainees and providing consultation to licensed staff. Dr. Nixon specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, and mood disorders. He approaches psychotherapy through a relational lens, integrating cutting-edge research in psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapies.
Dr. Amanda Gurtis, Psy.D.

Dr. Amanda Gurtis is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in psychotherapy. She completed completed her Psy.D. in clinical psychology from the University of La Verne.
Dr. Gurtis provides individual therapy with adults from a multicultural standpoint including working with POC and members of the LGBTQIA community. Her background is in attachment therapy which includes helping individuals understand why they feel the way they do and how this has been shaped by their experiences. She has worked with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression and other mood management concerns, perfectionistic tendencies, concerns for self-esteem, trauma, difficulties in relationships, grief/loss, and substance use concerns. She approaches therapy from a traditional psychotherapy standpoint engaging in talk therapy.

Stephanie Urbina, LCSW

Stephanie Urbina is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Psychological Associate, under the supervision of Dr. Kyle Nixon, who provides psychological assessments and therapy for children, adolescents, and adults in English and Spanish. She specializes in autism spectrum disorders, developmental delays, and psychological concerns.

Stephanie earned her Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California and is a doctoral candidate in Applied Clinical Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She has experience in private practice, community mental health, and academic settings and teaches master's level courses in the Marriage & Family Therapy Department at the Chicago School.
​
With extensive training in trauma therapy, Stephanie has supported survivors of grief, loss, and abuse, as well as families who have fled war-torn countries. She integrates psychodynamic and somatic techniques to help clients process emotions and build self-awareness. Alongside traditional therapy, she incorporates culturally informed practices to support emotional well-being.
